Catz A-gogo has a really great interior. I never have been hassled there for lady drinks and the staff is VERY friendly. The mamasan is very nice and always greats me with a smile. Drinks prices are good for a gogo. Music isn't too loud and the bathrooms are clean. Nice ladies there who don't hassle you. Top place...

Catz a Go Go (Not to be confused with Kittens or Pussy Galore)

Gentlemen, there's a new game in town. Pattaya just got a lot bigger and, if the early signs prove right, a lot badder.

As rumored, a whole complex of bars and other facilities has opened just around the corner from Tony's Used Car Lot. I'm told there are four gogo bars, with beer bars in front and a few other things like a restaurant. I haven't had a chance to scope it all out yet, but I was at the soft opening of one of the new bars, Catz a Go Go. The opener was a blast, and the new heavy looks really sweet.

The owners are Robin and Robert. The two Robs, In and Ert, have been everything but inert, as they went to great lengths and expense to get the details right.

The days of renting a shophouse, painting the walls black, throwing in chrome poles and a draft keg and opening the doors are officially over. At Catz, the décor is beautiful, and designed to hide the structure's humble shophouse origins-it feels like a bar, not a souvenir shop converted into a bar. The aircon is ducted throughout the room to feel cool and even throughout, comfortable for the punters without freezing the dancers' nipples off. The sound system is brilliant, with clear, sweet sound everywhere in the bar, no dead spots or blast zones (once again, the unmistakeable handiwork of Mr. H ).

In fact, R&R divided the gaff into zones, so there are areas designed for quiet conversation and others, closer to the stage, where the music is front and center. The aircon is also similarly adjustable.

A good bar should have its own sound, and Catz does. The beat is strong, but it's not that car alarm crap you'll hear in many gogo bars.

It fits the venue.

During Happy hour (8.00-9.30) Draft beer (Tiger) and well drinks are 50 baht, and I think my black nam was also 50 baht, which is a great deal... - D, Thailand
